Suspended Roller Coaster

Gallery Image This suspended roller coaster was an attempt to create a simple operational figure-eight mechanism based on a suspended, wheeled vehicle and without resorting to using tubing for the coaster track. A fair amount of difficulty was encountered in designing a wheeled car with enough "give" to negotiate 45-degree turns in the flat track. At the same time, the car had to be split to allow passage through vertical track supports. Alternatively, the top of the car could be split, but this could require more rigidity in the car than is feasible for this type of geometric track.
