A dollar word is one whose total value is exactly 100 when each of its letters is assigned a value according to its position in the alphabet: a=1, b=2, ..., z=26. Some examples of dollar words are: contented, cookout, mittens and shadowing. Can you think of a dollar word? Adding ed to a verb increases its value by 9 and reduces the target
value for the root verb to 91.
Adding s to a word increases its value by 19 and reduces the target
value for the root word to 81.
